Reaching young people in the Mosson neighbourhood
Context
Génération Solidaire et Citoyenne works with young people from the Mosson priority neighbourhood in Montpellier, focusing on integration, self-esteem and public speaking.
My role
Operational project officer, from March 2022 to March 2023.
My main contributions
Facilitating group workshops
Regularly running group workshops for young people from the Mosson neighbourhood.
Individual support
Individual and group support around integration, self-esteem and public speaking.
What I took away from it
Supporting these young people toward the "Paroles de jeunes" public speaking competition confirmed for me how much public speaking is a lever for self-esteem and empowerment, especially for teenagers with little prior exposure to it. Watching them take the stage with confidence, in their own words and drawing on their own experience, remains one of the moments I'm proudest of from this role.
